Liz Mueller Chick in Sour Cream

7 to 11 chicken breasts
1 large can mushroom soup
1 or 2 pkg dry onion soup mix
1/2 pint of sour cream
1 T. lemon juice
1 t. dill seed

Place chicken breasts in baking dish.  Dot with butter, salt pepper and paprika.  Combine remaining ingredients and pour over chicken.  Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hrs.

To make a food storage food.  This recipe would be very adaptable.  Use 2 cans of canned chicken.  Place them min the baking dish.  Combine the mushroom soup, 1 pkg. dry onion soup mix, 1/2 pint of sour cream (or 1/2 cup milk, some of the broth from the canned chicken, and 1-2 T. lemon juice), 1 t. dill seed

Crockpot Rice Puddwing

 

  • 1 ½ cups uncooked long grain rice
  • 3 cups water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 12-ounce cans evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Spray the insert of a 3 ½ quart slow cooker with cooking spray
  2. In a 2-quart saucepan, heat rice and water to a boiling over medium heat. Cover and reduce heat to low and cook for 20-25 minutes or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
  3. In a medium size bowl, mix the evaporated milk, melted butter, ground cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla.
  4. Add the rice to the slow cooker and add in the liquid ingredients.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours. Stir and cook for 30-40 minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed. Turn off the heat and remove the cover and stir.
  6. Let stand for 15 minutes. Serve warm. Sprinkle with a bit of ground cinnamon.

Notes

Cook on low. Cooking on high will burn the rice pudding.

Sesame Chick

Hawaiian Sesame Chicken INGREDIENTS: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or 2 pint jars of canned chicken) ½ c ketchup (you can make your own with tomato powder) ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp mustard ½ c crushed pineapple with juice ½ c brown sugar 1/2 c diced onion (I always use my dehydrated onions) 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional) Sesame Seeds DIRECTIONS: Place chicken into slow cooker (or bust out your wonder oven)! Mix the rest of the ingredients together, except for the Sesame seeds, and pour over the chicken. Cook on Low for 3 to 4 hours (or bake at 350 for 45 minutes). Remove chicken and cut into bite-size pieces. Return chicken to pot and mix with sauce. Sprinkle with Sesame Seeds (optional). Serve over rice.
