This can be particularly helpful in keeping someone hydrated with severe diarrhea. Simply combine the following ingredients with 1 quart of water (the water must be clean)
1/2 tsp. salt
6-8 tsp sugar or honey
1/2 t. baking soda (optional)
Administer in small sips, especially, immediately after vomiting or diarrhea. This can be mixed with a mashed banana or half cup of orange juice per quart to improve taste .http://rehydrate.org/solutions/homemade.htm#recipes
Someone noted that "honey" is never given to a child under 1 years of age because there is a botulism concern. Good point for anyone wanting to use this with a child.
