Make it a goal for 2011 --
Eat more Whole Grains

"MOST AMERICANS--more than 90 percent of the population--don't eat enough whole grains. That's according to reserachers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, who say in their 'Healthy People 2010' report that a lack of whole grains has become the single most common dietery deficiency in America." (January 2011, The Costco Connection, 73)

The American Heart Association says, "Whole grains contain the entire grain--the bran, germ and endosperm. Examples include whole-wheat flour, oatmeal, whole cornmeal, brown rice and bulgur." AHA says, "Eating whole grains provides important health benefits:

1. Good source of dietary fiber

2. Reduce blood cholesterol and may lower risk of heart disease

3. Provide a feeling of fullness with fewer calores and may help weight management.
